I see it as nothing short of alarming that we go forward with the Fourth of July /Independence Day celebrations as if nothing was wrong; as if the instrument which has served better than any other to protect our freedoms …namely the Constitution of these United States… wasn’t under direct attack by those currently in [...]

The news events of the last few months have certainly put the Obama Administration in a peculiar position. The Gulf crisis notwithstanding, most of these events have been created by this president and his staff.
Team Obama went the the G20 Summit in Toronto this weekend to chide the other 19 nations to continue to stimulate their economy through Keynsian economic principles. “Not so fast”, said the other countries. “We have to make choices, and right now, we choose fiscal solvency and prudence”. What a concept!
Passage of the Financial Institutions Reform package was always tenuous, at best, but the death of Senator Robert Byrd over the weekend makes passage more difficult. One less Democratic vote means that it’s more likely that Republicans can filibuster this package, and this is a good thing. Here’s why: Any bill that increases regulation, drives up costs to the consumer, and squeezes financial services companies’ margins will negatively affect the economy. The costs of increased regulation always get passed along to the consumer in some way, shape or form. Limiting profits also limit tax revenues [...]

Tech execs wade into the political fray
Got a big callout on the first page of the article!
Dumbo’s green energy delusions, Robert J. Samuelson, Washington Post: [Baracl] Obama has made vilification of oil and the oil industry a rhetorical mainstay. This is intellectually shallow, if politically understandable. “Clean energy” won’t displace oil or achieve huge reductions in greenhouse gas emissions — for example, the 83 percent cut by 2050 from 2005 levels [...]
More is Dumbo Sane? From Linda Chavez, Washington Examiner: The night he locked up the Democratic presidential nomination, Barack Obama predicted that generations hence, people would look back on the historic day as “the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.” At the time, his words [...]
Is Dumbo Sane? From Byron York, Washington Examiner: There was one particularly striking moment in President Obama’s widely panned Oval Office speech on the Gulf oil disaster. About midway through his talk, Obama acknowledged that he had approved new offshore drilling a few weeks before the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion on April 20. But Obama [...]
The Obami speak, by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu, Arutz Sheva: The Netanyahu government’s attitude to the United States shows it is “waiting for President [Sarah] Palin, an Obama official reportedly told Peter Beinart, writing for the Atlantic Monthly news site. Palin was the Republican candidate for vice president two years ago and is considered a front-running [...]
Libtards do for the money, Chris Bowers, Open Left: Only five years ago, the progressive political blogosphere was still predominately a gathering place for amateur (that is, unpaid or barely paid) journalists and activists unattached to existing media companies and advocacy organizations. Those days are almost completely over. Now, the progressive blogosphere is almost entirely [...]
The Lady or the Tiger II, or oh what a tangled web you weave when first you practice to deceive. Trying get out from under the Joe Sestak mess, David Axelrod just keeps digging. Now Axelrod is accusing Sestak of lying. Ed Morrissey, Hot Air, elaborates: Either Sestak is lying, or Sestak is telling the [...]
Obama’s one trick pony, Carol E. Lee, Politico: President Barack Obama is trying to ride the wave of anti-incumbency by taking on an unpopular politician steeped in the partisan ways of Washington. It doesn’t matter that George W. Bush left office 16 months ago. The White House’s mid-term election strategy is becoming clear – pit [...]
I won’t even bother to link this nonsense, but we’ve all seen in the last several days the issue surrounding Rand Paul and his comments regarding the 1964 civil rights act. You remember, the bill that the Republicans rammed through and Democrats fought against back in the day? Yeah that one. Well, anyway, let me [...]

Dumbo sets sights on big trucks, what could go wrong? From Erica Werner and Ken Thomas, Associated Press: WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is setting the nation’s sights on vehicles that run on half the fuel they now use and give off half the pollution. Obama on Friday directed the government to set the first-ever [...]
More of Mrs. Clinton’s smart diplomacy, via Jim Hoft, Gateway Pundit: Weakening US-Japan Relationships May Impair Crucial Social Networks Multilateral relations with emerging economies, the Japanese government’s bumbling over Futenma air base, and corporate breakups are reducing opportunities to build personal ties and networks that may be vital for Japan’s future Killing the golden goose, [...]
